Queer Icons-Rebecca Sugar

For Pride Month, I created a visual tribute piece celebrating Rebecca Sugar — animator, songwriter, and creator of Steven Universe, and a queer icon whose work has shaped a generation of LGBTQ+ storytelling. The design highlights Sugar’s fearless commitment to queer representation, tenderness, and radical empathy through bold colors, soft shapes, and nods to Steven Universe’s signature aesthetic. This piece honors the way their art made space for queerness in mainstream animation and gave countless queer kids permission to exist, love, and dream out loud.
