During the 80s computers were on a rise and became an extra amenity in some schools. That is why I decided to make my story about two kids joining the A/V club because tech was on a rise in the 80s. Also another popular thing t go on in the 80's were 'latchkey kids" which basically means that you would have to go home on your own and you have to get in the house on your own. Which is why I made the Cio twins have a single father in the story. I tied in the lifestyle of the 80s to the lifestyle of the Cio twins so you can truly feel the 80s aspects.
In the 80s tech was booming and robots was another thing on the list of things that people wanted. That is why I made one of my characters a robot.

BOOK COVER RESEARCH
Having a simplistic and fun design will be perfect for this project straight and to the point. You need to keep kid's attention and my intended audience for this story is children ages 7-12 years old.
I want to follow the style characteristics of the covers above, but also have the fun feel of the other ones above. I want to keep it simple and fun and just straight to the point. Overall I want to keep the cover childlike and fun.
